There is no magic remedy to eliminate heart disease, but diet is now recognized as one of the important factors in preventing or delaying its on-, set, including the diet of young children. Medical studies have found early signs of potential heart disease such as fatty deposits in the main arteries and high blood cholesterol levels in children and teens. Although there are many factors involved, in-volved, it is believed that the typical diet of young people should include more cholesterol-lowing foods rather than foods such as hamburgers and milk shakes. That's why many doctors now recommend that children be taught to limit foods rich in ! saturated fats and cholesterol and eat more of those rich in polyunsaturates (such as vegetable vege-table oils, fish and poultry). The use of a margarine made from liquid vegetable oil, such as Fleischmann's Margarine, which contains almost one cup of liquid corn oil per pound, used in place of butter can be the most important single source of polyunsaturates in their diet. The average daily intake of Fleischmann's Margarine Mar-garine supplies about ten times more polyunsaturates as the same quantity of butter. The fresh wholesome flavor of corn oil margarine makes it a valuable addition to any meal and a definite asset in recipes like this savory Fish Pie created for low-gaturated-fat diets. |
