Show VIETNAM VETERANS TO GET ASSIGNED NEAR HOME Co-sponsorship of a bill entitling en-titling returning Vietnam combat com-bat veterans to assignment at a military installation, near their homes was announced Wednesday Wednes-day by Rep. Sherman P. Lloyd, R-Utah. "Most of our servicemen returning re-turning from the war zone, including in-cluding many Utah boys, are very anxious to be assigned what is frequently their final tour of duty at a base near their homes," he said. "However, "How-ever, all too often the next assignment upon return from Vietnam often seperates the veteran from his family by many ma-ny hundreds of miles. "While the Defense Dept. attempts at-tempts to make near-home assignments as-signments for veterans, I feel this legal requirement that maximum preference be given to the combat veteran will greatly improve the serviceman's service-man's chances of being near his family after many months overseas," over-seas," Rep. Lloyd said. |
