Show SNOW IN BEAVER MOUNTAINS IS ABOVE NORMAL Water content is "up'' on the slopes of the Beaver Mountains, Moun-tains, according to a survey made April 27 by Doug Robins of the Soil Conservation Service Serv-ice and Gordon Green of the Forest Service. The snow course at Big Flat showed 63.4 in. snow with 21. 6 in. water, slightly down from last year's 68 in. ard 27.3 in. water. This is 121 of the average. Otter Lake had 47.8 in. snow with 16.6 in. water, compared com-pared to May 1, 1969's 52 in. snow and 23.6 in. water, or 136 of average. At Merchant Valley, the snow measured 21.1 in. with 7.2 in. water, or 257 of average. aver-age. Last year at Merchant Valley there was 21.1 jn. snow containng 11.6 in. water. The rain gauge at Big Flat held 3.02 in. water compared with 2.37 last year. At Merchant Merch-ant Valley the gauge held 2.64 in. water, compared with 2.42 in. last year. |
