Burton, Republican candidate for the U. S. Senate, returned to his old campaign grounds in Beaver County last week end, meeting with party organization organiza-tion leaders in Milford Saturday Satur-day morning. Rep. Burton, whose First Congressional District included Beaver County in the '62 and 1964 elections, was on a weekend week-end swing over the state to talk with supporters. His air and automobile tour took him into Sanpete, Sevier, Beaver, Millard, Juab and Carbon Car-bon Counties on Friday, Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday. Joe Jackson, Burton chairman chair-man for Beaver County, hosted host-ed the Milford meeting. Other top Republicans present included in-cluded Pershing Erickson. Beaver Bea-ver County Republican chair man, and Clark Smith of Beaver; Bea-ver; Karl Truman and Thur-man Thur-man Eyre, Minersville; and Richard Jefferson, Beatrice Ox-ley, Ox-ley, Ted Rimpau LeRay Jackson Jack-son and Leo Mayer. Rep. Burton, who is giving up his Congressional seat to seek the U. S. Senate post, told supporters that he expects major ma-jor campaign issues will include in-clude inflation, the Vietnam conflict, development of Utah land and water resources, environmental en-vironmental quality and crime regulation. Burton leaders in the county invited the Congressman to return re-turn lated in the campaign for a public meeting at which the candidate could make a full-scale full-scale speech to Beaver County residents. During his week-end tour Rep. Burton talked to Utah Wildlife Federation and Conservationist Con-servationist groups, the Model Unjted Nations session at the University of Utah, and met with campaign leaders. |
