Show NOW'S TIME TO CONTROL CATTLE GRUBS AND LICE Several of the newer systemic sys-temic insecticides are giving .excellent control of cattle grubs and lice. Farmers and ranchers using them will want to treat their animals soon. Dr. G. F. Knowlton, Utah State University professor of entomology, emphasises the advantage ad-vantage or early fall application. applica-tion. "The earlier in the fall that these insecticides are applied, ap-plied, after the adult heel fly and bomb fly adults die off, the better it is for the animals ibeing treated." County Agent Grant Esplin advises all cattlemen in Beaver County who have a heel fly problem to treat their cattle as soon as possible this fall. The treatment should be done by Oct. 31 if possible. "Coumaphos (Co-Ral), rue-lone rue-lone (Trolene) and trichlorfon (Neguvon) are the materials now most commonly used against this livestock pest," he said. "When applied as a dip or spray, they also give excellent excel-lent control of lice. However, these materials should not be used on cows being milked or ' soon to freshen," he cautioned. |
