Show "Centennial Is Huge Success" The Centennial week is half over and no one wiil dispute that so far it has been one huge success suc-cess after another. Starting with the Lions chuck-wagon chuck-wagon breakfasts and horse racing rac-ing and right up to the Governor's Gover-nor's banquet, with Governor Rampton, Lucy Beth and former for-mer Milford Mayor, Carlyle Gronning, in attendance. The pageant, which premiered Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, was a smashing success and brought raves from all who saw the first performance. perfor-mance. But the biggest success to date had to be Saturday starting with the barbecue, planned for up to 800, they served almost 1200 and many more were turned turn-ed away when it was just impossible- to get any more food to serve. Portions were cut in order to give as many as passible a taste of the deliciously prepared pre-pared beef and buffalo. The- fantastic parade, under the guidance of the ESA Sorority Sor-ority had an incredible number of lloats and entries trom Min-eiliville, Min-eiliville, Cedar City, Beaver and as lar away as Ely, Nev. All acclaimed it the best parade in the 100 year history cf Milford. The Sorority's float walked off with the Dig prize in that division, but the members voted vot-ed to give the $50.00 first prize to the White Pme Historical Car Club of Ely, Nev. to help defray expenses of club members in transporting their vehicles to Milford. The Sorority float in carrying out the theme of "Those Were The Days" depicted the eld 49ers celebrations, including in-cluding bar and dancing girls. Second place went to Jefferson's with a 1905 version of Jeff Merc and third prize of $25.00, went to The Baudino family float, depicting de-picting an old mine shaft, crew and even the eld washer woman leaning over a wash board. The floats were outstanding and representation from over the county was excellent. The Comic Band, revived from the era of the old 49er celebrations, ran off with first place in the band division, with the Rebekah Lodge Krazy Kat Kitchen Band taking second. The MHS marching band took third prize of $25.00 The Comic Band came back to Main Street and entertained the crowd with their cut-ups and antics and some darned fine music until the two street bands took ever for the street dances wheh went on into the wee hours. Friends, neighbors, young and eld, old residents and newcomers new-comers mingled throughout the night, with an enjoyment that was sincere in every face. |
