Show If it's so all fired funny how come I can't laugh! Water is never far from anyone's any-one's mind when they live in the desert, but c rtainly if I should die this week it will be by drowning. Water I've had it up to here I may even quit drinking the stuff. o My fight with the element IT2-0 begi.n gradually and un-till un-till this past week when it begin be-gin a huge frontal attack, I wasn't even aware that it was out to get me. o It all starlel acouple of weeks ago when D;n"a and I moved our family to the flat just wanted a little more space for the kids to run. Moving day was delayed a couple of weeks while new pumps were ordered and installed to bring the water wa-ter into the house. Finally we made it and moved in the same day just in time to give po-session po-session of our house in town which we had sold. That's when I first begin to suspect a villian, but as yet it was not identified. The reason was because we thought we were under attack by every drain in the house. By the time the drains were unplugged, it was no secret that both elements of the water tank were on strike. Have you ever tried to move and clean, heating heat-ing water on the range. Where's your pioneer spirit? Finally a few days later, new elements were installed and it was baths all arourd all the hot water you want, we thought we had won. n But, no water had just fallen back to regroup. Saturday. -Donna suggested we take a look at the flooding in the eastern . end of the county and take in a movie. Fine, the next day was Mother's Day and we both had to work anyway. But just as we reached the Minersville Reservoir (the biggest body of water in the county) it attacked again. It's bullets pierced our armor and knocked out you guessed it our water pump. o Hitching a ride to Minersville we got Dan Davis to tow us in and give the Wilson's a ride back to our home on the flat with hot and cold running water. wa-ter. Monday we again traveled to the eastern end of the county coun-ty to watch the rampaging North Creek cut ir.to roads and culverts, trying to knock them out of the way. But we managed to return home without getting cur feet wet. Dan called that our car was fixed and again thought we had won the battle. Tuesday, passersby kept running run-ning in to tell us that we had struck water right in front of the shop a city lire had broken. Since it was in the street and more in front of the bank, we duly notified these individuals and went about our business. Business that kept us on the job until midight, at which time we returned home to discover that the pumps were not working that probably the heating elements were again gone to pot. n Enough you think! Wednesday Wed-nesday we hustled the kids to the shop to wash and eat breakfast, break-fast, where we thought we had water but alas the city crew, up bright and early were already patching the leak and you guessed it the water was shut off. Well I've had it if anyone so much as tries to offer me a drink they'd better dilute it I'll never try to fight water aain at least .not full strength. |
