Show VISITOR, FORMER RESIDENT, IS NOTED RAIL AUTHORITY Dr. and Mrs. Fred Cottrell of Oxford, Ohio, were in Milford Mil-ford the early part of this week visiting Dr. Cottrell's brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Tribole, and his sister in law, Mrs. Bertha Cottrell. Cot-trell. . Dr. Cottrell, a former Milford Mil-ford resident and graduate of Milford High School, is a professor pro-fessor at Miami University in Oxford. Dr. Cottrell has just completed complet-ed a study of foreign railroads, including those in England, Russia, Switzerland and New Zealand, comparing the management man-agement methods, equipment, and persnonel problems with the American railroads. Generally, Gen-erally, Dr. Cottrell said, the same or very similar problems are encountered thruout the world as are faced by American Ameri-can railroads and American railroad workers. Dr. Cottrell's interest in world-wide railroading began in 1947 when he made a study of the effects on Caliente, Nev., of discontinuance of the "division "di-vision point" by the Union Pacific Pa-cific and the resultant effect on the Caliente economy. His findings after the study are now being used as textbood material in many American colleges and universities. |
