Show RANGE IMPROVED AFTER STORMS The wet, cold weather which has prevailed over the area will have beneficial results for the federal range lands, Lowell J. Udy, Fillmore District manager man-ager for the BLM, reported. The storms have been quite general over the district, Mr. Udy said, and have Improved soil moisture conditions. This will be a great asset to forage growth and development, providing pro-viding the extreme cold weather weath-er does not continue. Livestock which have been on winter range allotments are generally reported to be in fair to good condition, however, how-ever, recent allotment inspections inspec-tions by district personnel have shown some livestock to be in very poor condition. The Fillmore District office is currently working on a division divi-sion fence between cattle and sheep operations in Beaver County. Much of this work is or will be done in the vicinity of Milford. Projects of this type are completed to facilitate facili-tate better control of livestock using the federal range and the construction costs are distributed dis-tributed so that livestock per-mitees per-mitees pay one half of the total to-tal cost. Tree chaining and plowing operations are urjfler way at the Bucket Ranch area in Wah Wah Valley. The sagebrush sage-brush spraying and chaining projects in Minersville area will begin about May 15. Mr. Udy said that in the spring and summer months several tours will be made over the federal range of this district, and the public is invited in-vited to participate in these tours. |
