Show FEB. 7 STARTS BOY SCOUT WEEK The 365 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorers of the Beaver District of the Utah National Na-tional Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America, will observe the 53rd anniversary of the Scouting movement during Boy Scout Week, Feb. 7 to 13, with the theme, "Strengthen America Amer-ica ... Be Prepared, Be Fit." They will join nearly 5,200,-000 5,200,-000 other Scouts and leaders in every part of the nation in re-dedicating themselves to the Scout Oath on Friday, Feb. 8, the actual birthday of the movement in America. Scout Week will be observed nationally by over 130,000 Scouting units in every city and town and in thousands of villages and hamlets as well, including the 18 in the Beaver district. During this week Scouts will participate in many unit-sponsored activities including Blue and Gold banquets, open house, parents' night, skill demonstrations, demonstra-tions, Scout Sunday services, and sponsor good turn projects. They are also invited to participate partic-ipate in a District-sponsored skating party which will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m., at Jake's Pond in Greenville. Hot chocolate and chili will be served free to all Scouts, Scouters, and other boys between be-tween the ages of 12 and 18 wno auena. i All units in the district have been asked to prepare a window win-dow display depictnig some phase of Scouting. The displays dis-plays will be judged by local citizens, and all participating units will receive a ribbon. Special recognition will be given the units judged to have outstanding displays. |
