Show Orrin R. Williams Will Be Feted on 90th Anniversary An open house from 6 to 9 p. m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Orrin R. Williams home, 326 West 500 South St., will honor Mr. Williams on his 90th birth anniversary. All friends are invited to attend, at-tend, and the family requests no gifts. Mr. Williams was born Jan. 10, 1872, in Sevier Bridge, Juab County, to George Stephen and Sarah Jane Tidwell Williams. He married" Alice Murphy, Oct. 1, 1897, in the Manti LDS Temple. She died Dec. 13, 1918. He married Alda Sanderson, June 8, 1919, in the Manti Temple. She died in the summer sum-mer of 1928. On Feb. 16, 1934, he married Maude Elam in the Salt Lake Temple. Mr. Williams spent his early life at Westview, near Gunnison Gunni-son and Salina, and worked as a cowboy, and range rider for a Southern Utah cattle company. com-pany. Later, he .turned to farming, and continued that occupation until he retired in 1957. He owned the first farm at Westview. Moving to Milford in 1927 he purchased the farm now being operated by his son McCoy, and later purchased the old Hickman farm in South Milford. Mil-ford. Mr. Williams served an LDS mission in Mississippi in 1904 and 1905. At that time he had four small children including a 10-day-old child, whom he left to serve the mission. At that time, Mr. Williams said, Mississippi was "hostile" to Mormon missionaries, but he baptized 11 converts while there. Mr. Williams held many church positions, including stake missionary, superintendent superinten-dent of the Sunday School, and was ward teacher, until ha retired three years ago because be-cause of failing eyesight. He has led a very active life until he retired from his farm five years ago after suffering suf-fering a broken hip. He is the father of 16 chil dren, 10 of whom are living: Art Williams, Firebaugh, Cal.; Lesler Williams and Mrs. Odessa Odes-sa Ferguson, Milford; Mrs. Viola Vi-ola Jewkes, Kenilworth; Mrs. Leola Laughter, Ogden; Charley Char-ley Williams, Tokoroa, New Zealand; McCoy Williams, So. Milford; Austin Williams, Garrison; Gar-rison; Nolan Williams, Oakland, Oak-land, Calif.; and Lynn Williams, Wil-liams, Nampa, Idaho. |
