Show LaMar Retires . . JAY L. HIATT PURCHASES CORNER DRUG Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Out-zen, Out-zen, owners of the Corner Drug in Milford for 33 years, retired Jan. 1, and have sold their business to Jay L. Hiatt, native Utahn who has been a registered pharmacist since 1955. The Outzens have served the public with prescriptions, cosmetics, drug sundries and Cokes and shakes since LaMar opened his own drug store in 1928, on the corner now occupied occu-pied by the Standard Station. Mr. Outzen is a native of Richffield. During World War I he served with the Medical Detachment of the 315th Ammunition Am-munition Train, 90th Division, in France and Germany. He married Ardath Johnson in Milford in 1928. A graduate of .Richfield High School, he received his degree in Pharmacy from the North Pacific College of Pharmacy. In 1922 he accepted employment employ-ment as prescription pharmacist pharma-cist in the O. F. Hubbel Drug Store, working for Mr. Hub-bell Hub-bell until he opened his own drug store. In 1937 he moved to his present location . Mr. Outzen is a member of Milford Post No. 16, American Legion, and of Albert Pike Lodge No. 14, F & A M of Utah. A past master of Albert Pike Lodge, he has been tyler for 30 years. Mr. and Mrs. Outzen have two daughters, Mrs. E. D. (Ann) Wright, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Ivan D. (Mary) Geum-lek, Geum-lek, Costa Mesa, Calif. The Outzens plan to remain , in Milford, and will be at home to their friends at 265 West Sixth South after Jan. 8th. Mr. Hiatt is a native of He-ber. He-ber. In June, 1950, he married mar-ried Florence McGuire in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have . four children, Patti, 6; Cherie, 5; Randy, 3, and Jeffrey, 1. Mr. Hiatt graduated from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy in 1955. He has been employed as a pharmacist in Tooele, Salt Lake City, and Heber. He has been Sunday School teacher in the LDS Church, and served a mission in the Central Atlantic States. |
