Show ! 'Special' GI Insurance Checks Being Readied The first checks in payment of the $230,000,000 "special" G. I. insurance dividend announced an-nounced recently by President Kennedy will go into the mails on July 1, and processing of the dividend payments should be completed by the Veterans Administration by Labor Day. In reporting this payment timetable, John S. Gleason, Jr., Administrator of Veterans Affairs, Af-fairs, and Past National Commander Com-mander of The American Legion, Le-gion, said the more than 5,000,- 000 veterans who will share in the dividend will not need to make application to the VA for their checks. He said individual payments would be J computed and processed by the VA, then paid automatically. automati-cally. The special dividend checks will go to some 4,800,000 World War 11 veterans holding National Na-tional Service Life Insurance (NSLI) policies, and to approximately ap-proximately 260,000 World War 1 veterans holding U. S. Govt. Life Insurance (USGLI) policies. |
