Show Disabled Persons Now Eligible for Social Security Payments There's good news for disabled dis-abled persons under 50, according ac-cording to Kesler T. Powell, District Manager of the Provo Social Security Office. Before last year's amendments amend-ments to the social security law disabled worker under 50 could hava his social security record "frozen," but he and his family could not be paid monthly benefits until he reached age 50. This is now changed. Any person under age 65 who meets the definition of "disability" In the social security law, and who has worked long enough in employment covered by social security may be eligible for benefits, regardless of his age. "If you are a disable worker under age 65," Mr. Powell urges, "consult your social security se-curity office right away to see if you are eligible for monthly benefits. Persons who are so severely disable that they cannot work and who have no Immediate hopes of recovery, and who have worked under social security se-curity for at least 5 out of the 10 years just before becoming disable should apply immediately. im-mediately. Disability insurance benefits for disable workers under age 50 and their families were first payable for the month of November 1960.
