Show Milford TV Viewers Pleased with Addition Of New Channel .Milford television viewers, happy over the addition of Channel Chan-nel 2 to the one-channel (5) service ser-vice they had been receiving, are "singing the praises" of the Milford Volunteer T V Committee, Com-mittee, and looking forward to the benefit barbecue scheduled for Sunday, May 25, with the expectation ex-pectation that proceeds from the affair will be sufficient to pay for installation of channel 4 eiui piiHjnt Ticket sales, termed "very slow" last week, began to ipick up after the two channels were cut in Sunday Sun-day at a new site east of town in the Mineral mountains, and the clarity of channel 5 greatly Improved, Im-proved, with channel 2 reception being termed "much better than channel 5 used to be." Only disappointment of the Wednesday Wed-nesday night fight fans, who had been looking forward to their first home-town viewing of the .popular leatherslinging, was in the brevity of the matches. The scheduled 10-round 10-round main event only went two, and an added four-rounder ended after a minute and a half of the first stanza. But the reception was excellent, and while the action lasted fight fans were sitting on the edge of their seats. "The children are really happy with channel 2," one mother said. ''Channel 2 seems to have more cartoons and special children's shows at more convenient times, and the kids, at least in my neigh-bo neigh-bo rhood, are overjoyed." All TV viewers of the community were thankful for the hard work and long hours devoted to bringing good television to Milford, and singled out for extra praise were the "nucleus" group, who have from the start contended that Milford could have good reception, and continued con-tinued working until they proved it Included in this "nucleus" group are W. P. Morford, John Griinshaw, Roy Young, O. C. Koch, Brig Carter and Powell Smyth. "There are others, of course, who have contributed much to the success of our T V program," a committee spokesman spokes-man said, but the men listed above are the ones who have been In there pitching all the way, and they certainly have earned the gratitude of those in (Continued on Back Page) HERE'S MORE ABOUT TV BARBECUE Contiued from Page One .Milford who are now enjoying excellent television." Also listed for special thanks were Theman Walker, who operated operat-ed county equipment to build a passenger pas-senger car road to the TV site in the Minerals, and Mayor Kizer, who organized the construction crew and assisted in the work of building the equipment house on top of the mountain. The barbecue to be served between be-tween 2 and 8 p.m. Sunday, May 2o, is for the purpose of raising funds to install channel 4. There has been some misunderstanding of the purpose of the benefit, especially es-pecially on the part of some of the present contributors, who are paying pay-ing regularly the voluntary $1 a month assessment. Others contend '.hat in paying their monthly assessment assess-ment they are "doing all we are supposed to do." T V Committeemen point out they are correct in saying that they are "doing all they agreed to do" in paying their assessment, and as soon as sufficient funds are raised in this manner, channel 4 will be installed and televised to Milford viewers. "But it will take about a year for us to accumulate enough surplus funds, over and above costs of operation, to install the third channel, and if this barbecue is properly supported, we will be able to install channel 4 in the immediate im-mediate future." The barbecue will be prepared and served in the cedars, at the foot of Bailey's. A large flat space south of the road has been selected and cleared of all sagebrush and other growth. The mountain to the south of the sijiot serves a.3 a windbreak, and there is ample parking and picnic spaice. Baine Mathesoti of Parowan, professional barbecue chef who is famous throughout Southern Utah for his skill at barbecuing, has boen engaged to prepare and s;crve the barbecue. Two large pits will be dug and lined this week, they will 'be fired for 36 hours 'before the meat is placed in them, and the slow-cooked choice 'beef will be served with baked beans and potato salad Coffee will be furnished by the committee, and soft drinks and beer will be on sale under the auspices aus-pices of Little League officers. Beef is being donated by Milford television retailers, Jefferson Merc, B &J Club, and Sam's Furniture & Appliance. Tickets may ibe obtained from ladies of the ESA Sorority, or at Shay's, the B & J Club, and Zeke Hickman's Western Club, or at the Corner Drug or City Office.
