Show Beaver County Shools Plan Curriculum Study The Beaver County School Board, in session November 4, completed an agreement with the Utah State Department of Education which will result in a comprehensive survey sur-vey of the county schools. According Ac-cording to Board President Karl Truman, "Major emphasis of the study will be curriculum although facilities and organizational procedures pro-cedures also will be studied." Dr. Keith Oakes, professor of education at Brigham Young University, Uni-versity, has been appointed to direct di-rect the study, with Bryce Draper, curriculum supervisor of the local district, assisting him. A committee of 60 people from the county will be organized to work out a set of district aims and objectives. This is scheduled rather early in the program so that the school district employes can later evaluate the system in terms of what the citizens want their schools to accomplish. Regarding the citizens committee, Beaver District Superintendent David R. Pearce states that approximately one-third of the 60-member committee com-mittee is to be teachers, with two-thirds two-thirds of the group being lay representatives rep-resentatives from all communities and various interested groups. He further explained that the function func-tion of this committee' is one of stating philosophy, aims, and objectives, ob-jectives, rather than analyzing or rating individual personnel. The first meeting of the citizens, and citizens committee, is set for November 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Beaver High school auditorium, and a meeting for teachers is scheduled sche-duled on the 17th. Present plans call for completion of the study by the end of the current school year.
