Show Beaver Second Ward Takes Road Show Laurels Beaver Second Ward Tuesday evening won the judges' award as outstanding Beaver Stake MIA Road JShow act for 1959. But the ,'udging was not easy, said Parowan Stake President Howard Knight, one of the judges, in announcing the decision of himself and F. C. Van Buren, the other judge, also from Parowan. "All of the acts were winners," said President Knight, who. was loud in his praise of the work put forth by all the participants. The presentations for judging were made at Beaver First-Third Ward Recreation hall, with a large crowd in attendance. Simultaneous Simultane-ous presentations were made at Beaver High School auditorium, with the acts from the six wards rotating and doing so seemingly without a bit of confusion or delay in a well-coordinated plan. A similar simi-lar rotation plan was worked between be-tween Milford and Minersville Monday evening. Minersville, Beaver Third, Beaver Bea-ver Second, Milford Second, Milford Mil-ford First, and Beaver First wards presented their acts in that order and with a minimum of lost time between acts; the presentations being preceded by a brief address of welcome given by Stake MIA Superintendent John A. Christiansen. Christian-sen. Howard R. Lowe, Beaver High school music director, did a very fine job as master of ceremonies. "Flowers" is the theme for this year's Road Shows throughout the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, and that theme was capably carried out in all the presentations pre-sentations in Beaver Stake. Minersville ward chose "Tulip Time" for their act with perhaps the largest group of participants of several ages, all in fine voice and costumes. Beaver Third ward used "Young Love in ' Apple Blossom Time" for their act and it was beautifully sung and acted. "Only a Rose" was the title of Beaver Second ward's winning act and it too was beautiful and melodious. Milford Second ward had "Sunflower "Sun-flower from the Sunflower State" for their act and carried out the theme in fine voice and appropriate appropri-ate costumes. Milford First ward presented what many thought was one of the most finished performances, perform-ances, with "Petunias" on every hand in person, song, and lovely costumes. "Japanese Flower Gar-' Gar-' den" was the title chosen by Beaver Bea-ver First ward, with dainty costumes cos-tumes and clever dialogue. |
