Show Minersville Gold-Green Ball Starts 1959 Centennial Observance The Minersville Gold and Green Ball, first 1959 event of the Centennial Cen-tennial Celebration, was judged a "very big success" last Tuesday evening. The hall was decorated to the theme of "My Grandmother's Old Fashioned Garden" in blue and pink. Most of the ladies and many of the gentlemen wore old-i old-i fashioned dress of 1859, in observance observ-ance of the Minersville Centennial Centen-nial year. The queens of the Centennial and others of the Junior Gleaner class were honored and presented with lovely corsages. Girls so feted were Shirleen Davis, queen; Nancy Marshall, Maureen Myers and Kenna Lou Kelsey, attendants attend-ants and Norma Davis, Alice Adams and Emma Jane Kelsey. The theme was sung by Gerald Myers and Jean Eyre. The floor show included a dance by the Bee Hive class and Boy Scouts; the Mia Maids and Explorers, the Square Dance Club, and the Special Spe-cial Interest Class. All dances were different, and participants were attired in old fashioned dress. |
