Show Chevron Station Robbed In Milford; Nab Suspect Thompson's Chevron Service Serv-ice in Milford was burglarized sometime early Sunday a. in., probably about 3 o'clock, and cash, checks and credit card slips valued at between $300 and $400 were stolen. Barney Fothcringham, about 33, and Thomas Mcintosh, about 21, are arrested Tuesday evening by Sheriff Lee R. Fillmore, and are being held on charges of "suspicion of burglar)-." It is expected that they will be arraigned Thursday, Thurs-day, Sheriff Fillmore said. It is undrstood that young Mcintosh confessed the burglary bur-glary and implicated Fother-ingham, Fother-ingham, but Fotheringham has denied any connection with the robbery. The money and checks stolen stol-en were in two canvas sacks in a safe, according to Richard Thompson, proprietor of the station, and after entrance was gained by breaking a window in the adjacent B & M Buick Service owned by Bob and Marge Schramm, the burglars used rubber gloves and a crow bar to break a lock and hasp from the safe, Early Tuesday morning a bag containing the checks and credit card slips was found next to the gas pumps at the service station, ruling out the theory that transients tran-sients might have committed commit-ted the crime. The canvas sack was covered cov-ered with dirt and sand, indicating indi-cating that it had been buried in the ground between the time of the robbery and the time it was returned to the service station. Assisting Sheriff Fillmore in investigating the robbery were Milford City Marshals Floyd Winn and Wallace Fotheringham. |
