Show MILFORD JAYCEES LIST RECORD OF PROJECTS FINISHED New officers for the Milford Jaycees and JayceeEttes weie installed in-stalled at an evening lawn iparty recently at the home of Dr. D. A. Symond, new Jaycee president. Other officers seated were John Jimenez, vice president; Fred O'Leary, second vice president; Gerald (Zeke) Hickman, secretary; secre-tary; Rulon Brox, treasurer, and directors Ted Rimpau and retiring president Ronald Gale. Following the Jaycee installation installa-tion the ladies installed Gayle Gayle as JayceeEtte president; Barbara Brox, vice president; Betty Jimenez, secretary; Virginia Davis, treasurer, and Phyllis Symond, Sy-mond, director. The Jaycees reported an impressive im-pressive list of community projects proj-ects completed during the past year und I Ronald Gale's leadership, leader-ship, including: "Back Alley" project, removing eyesore from alley facing Union Pacific depot, completed with in-rtollation in-rtollation (with cooperation of U P B & B gang) of driveway over new concrete drainage ditch to Shell Service Station. "Atoms for Peace" display presented pre-sented in' Milford by Atomic Energy En-ergy Commission under Jaycee sponsorship. Labor Day dance, with profit of $61.75 added to Jaycee projects fund. Doll Safety Program, present-ring present-ring dolls and teaching safety to Milford Elementary first and second sec-ond grades. "I Speak for Democracy" essay contest, with Georgia Beth Smith, local winner, placing third in state finals. Presented Distinguished Service Award to Or. D. A. Symond. Carried out successful "Get Out the Vote" campaign in last fall's municipal election. Fifteen couples participated in Christmas Caroling program. Alley graveling project, spreading spread-ing gravel free of charge on alleys during Clean-up Week. Presented "San Juan Story, motion picture by Lee Kay of the Utah Fish & Game Dept., with small profit going to projects fund. Sponsored several out of town speakers at dinner meetings. Completed job placement program, pro-gram, compiling list of unemployed unem-ployed men and assisting in obtaining ob-taining employment on new school building under construction. Projects under way but not yet completed include : Milford flood control. Ramp built on east side of football foot-ball field at high school as .permanent .per-manent installation for bleacher seats. Dog vaccination against rabies. Fenced football field 700 feet of chain link fence installed, with about 75 feet yet to be completed. Plans drawi for purchase of time clock for football field. Teen-Age Road-e-o project not carried through last year because of lack of interest among students, but planned for 1959. Active in promotion of hospital fund drive. ., Award Program committee completing plans for scholarship to C S U. |
