Show Over the Hiccups Wi th Abigai 1 Inc . On strolling through Lester Park wondering what to tell her admiring readers about the news of Weber, Abby found this page, torn from some shy maiden's diary: April 17, 1934. Dearest diary, At the first peep of the sun I arrived at ye goodly Jeffersonian Institute only to find that I have to f i . -re out detours. The noble banner of CWA was replaced by the FERA and the handsome workins men were back again to watch the girls play tennis. Oh stop, wild beating of my heart! My dear te fher's lectures are again accompanied by the soothing voice of saws and punctuated by the tender bangs of the hammer. My classes are again m.de interesting by the crash of various bricks beini. hurled hither and yon. It seems to De a game. They take down the bricks on one side and put them up on another. Oh diary, I played for the first time that thrilling game of tennis. It must have something to do with courtship because they call the little square of cement that one plays on a court, and Fred Harris, the handsome fellow I played with, kept telling me about the love games he won. Don't you think that's silly. They do play the strangest games at Weber. Why just yesterday I saw Ellen Halgren and Paul Harames chasing butterflies with fish nets. "Sugar" was the heavy favorite to win because of his tennis experience, but Halgren came through like a true squaw and proved the merits of her tribe. Oh diary, you'd be scandalized at the stories I heard today from the bleary-eyed musical comedy stars, who returned from Malad at various hours this morning. They told me unbelievable tales of the night life of Malad. Oh diary, would that I could go there! The Weber steadies had all t'..eir fun spoiled though, for they were closely watched by a couple of low-down stool-pigeons I wonder if they were working for the better halves. But diary, I've saved the best for the last. My hero, the "senator", whom I have admired from a distance for so long, voiced the main issue of Weber. In a speech whicn lasted two hours he brought forth all the favorite points and asked me to go to the Prom with him. I have never seen the great senator so abashed. Oh diary, aren't you thrilled? But now I will put down my pen and drift off to pleasant dreams of the coming Prom and my heavy date with the senator. Goodnight, ear diary.
