Show VALUES IN TIME JIM'S NEWS A young college student once asked the president of the college if there was not some course which he could complete without giving such a long time as four years to it. The president answered: "That depends on what you wish to make of yourself. V.'hen nature wants to make an oak, she works away at it for a good many years, but if she wants to make a squash, she can do it in a few months." The question asked by that student is one which undoubtedly assails the minds of other students at one time or another, but most students realize that if a thing is worth doing at all it is worth doing .well. 'Then they stop to reflect that they have a lifetime of probably forty or fifty years after they leave college, they know that the few years .pent in preparation for the life ahead will make that life more profitable and more truly enjoyable. They, like the oak will be able to stand more easily the knocks and bumps which invariably come to all persons. And although they may not stand out above their fellow men, if their fellow men are also strong, they will be happy in the realization that they contribute to a forest of oaks, which as a body will be able to withstand the most severe shocks of adversity.
