Show GIRL'S DANCE VALUE OF WEBER COLLEGE BUS SYSTEM After seeing Little Red Riding Hood's striking example of bravery with the bjg, bad wolf, I the coeds of Weber set out to accomplish big things. With Red Riding Hood leading the way, the "kittens" proceeded to ask their favorite ! "wildcat" to the Girl's Dance. The symbol of I' success was a badge of honor which said "I Roped One". As Miss Weber entered the ball-I room with her little "dogie" or whatever it was she roped, she noticed the Melody Monarchs '! costumed as ghosts. Red lights, concealed by autumn leaves and corn shocks, illuminated the hall. A sheaf of balloons in the center of the ! ceiling with streamers radiating from it, punch, candy, and dance programs all carried out the Halloween motif. During intermission j! two lit-tle acrobats and a group of Follies girls entertained. Need I say the dance was a j; success? "It's the talk of the town." o i j' EARL GLADE SPEAKS ! Every student should have an objective in life, and should work always with that goal in ' mind, Earl J. Glade of KSL in Salt Lake City j . told the student body of Weber College Thurs- ! day. He recommended that every student imme diately compile a list of such objectives, without limiting himself, and work towards I them. "The trouble with us in Utah is that we don't know where we are going." 'I ji o SENATOR THOMAS SPEAKS r i In an address to the Weber College student ! body, the visiting Hawaiians, and the general ii public, U. S. Senator Elbert D. Thomas told of j the abounding generosity and hospitality of the people of Hawaii. He compared the points ij of view of different peoples, saying, "Many !j roads lead to the top of the mountain, but I when the top is reached, the same moon is seen by all." o j: : NEWS RELEASE r ! The University of Chicago-- Mr. Charles E. Peterson, of 2922 Grant Ave., Ogden, Utah has been awarded a partial scholarship in the i School of Business of the University of Chi- 1 cago, according to announcement by Dean W. H. ,: Sqencer of the School. Mr. Peterson did the j first two years of his college work at Weber College. Students and faculty members are agreed that the Weber College bus system is a valuable asset to the school. It is believed to be the only junior college transportation system in the United States. Before 1931 the student body was composed almost wholly of residents of Ogden and vicinity. Believjng that other men and women desired higher education, the school decided to run a bus to Boxelder County. Since that year other routes have been formed, and the enrollment has increased yearly. The latest bus line is that to Davis County, started this year. Advantages for the school include the increased number of students, the greater area represented, and the larger number of courses and activities possible. The system has also awakened wider interest in the junior college question. Students benefit from the plan because it decreases expenses, enabling many to attend who could not otherwise, and because it makes possible staying home nights. The one disadvantage is that the area covered is not as extensive as might be desired, but future financial aid is expected to remedy that defect. o For Christmas The best of all gifts YOUR PHOTOGRAPH Consult us now!
