WSU came in ninth place in the tournament. WSU golf team this season, was right behind Johnson and Wahlen. Sutton shot a 78, first 76 and 75 for the second and third round, with an overall total score of 229. "We struggled as a team both Monday and Tuesday," Sutton said. "We had high expectations coming into the tournament, and none of us were really able to put together a good tournament, which was disappointing." Members of the team said they will continue to work hard and compete this season for Head Coach Dave Kearl. Kearl will be resigning in January, as the team continues to prepare to defend its conference title in the spring. "We will keep working hard and hopefully get a win this fall for Coach Kearl," Wahlen said. "Hopefully, we will take some positives from this tour- l^afe JY1 ergot Espresso Bar, Smoke shop & Hookah Lounge 136 Historic 25"' Si. The team is expecting a lot of tough competition at the tournament and is looking forward to playing against a strong field of opponents. "The field at this next tournament is going to be really good, with many top-50 teams competing," Sutton said. "I think it will be a great place to show how good we can be as a team." ISU has a 2-4 overall record and a 1-3 record in the Big Sky Conference. ISU played the University of Montana last week and lost in a 33-0 shutout. The Bengals are currently ranked seventh in the Big Sky. The WSU offense has gotten ready for ISU this week in practice. "For the offense, we're going to run the ball and run all over them," said Captain J.C. Oram. "Once they start stopping the run, then we're going to throw the ball over them and score a lot of points on them." Next week, the Wildcats will stay home, but take a break from Big Sky Conference play WSU will host Southern Utah University at 4 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the annual Blackout Game. It will be the first meeting with SUU since 2006. SUU will be joining the Big Sky Conference next season. He received a medical redshirt and will be a junior for the 'Cats this fall. He is a two-time Big Sky All-Conference First Team performer, with a win as the Big Sky MVP in the 2009- 10 season. He has played in 71 career games at WSU and currently ranks 13th in school history in career scoring and fourth in career three-point field goals. Alongside Lillard, the Wildcats will have Scott Bamforth, who proved last year that he is more than capable of putting points on the board. He earned First Team Big Sky All-Conference Honors last season and was also named Big Sky Newcomer of the Year for his perfor mance. He played in 31 of 32 games last season and averaged 12.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. He led the Big Sky and was fourth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 48.8 percent. The back-court combination of Lillard and Bamforth should give most teams the Wildcats face a headache. Opposing defenses will be faced with the decision of knowing which player to double-team and which to leave open. All WSU fans know how dangerous Lillard can be when he's open, and after last season, there's not much doubt that Bamforth knows how to score either. The team has only lost two seniors from last year's team, so the chemistry and unity should be strong on this team. The annual Purple and White Game will take place in the Dee Events Center on Oct. 26. WSU will then host the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Nov. 7, in its final preseason game. It will kick off the regular season on Nov. 11, against Northern New Mexico College at the Dee Events Center. This season, WSU will have 16 home games, including matchups against in-state rivals Utah State University (Nov. 15), and the University of Utah (Dec. 7), and will host a Sears Bracket- buster Game (Feb. 18).
