Pilkington is in his third year as head coach of the cross country teams, and has a lot of personal experience with running to go along with his several years of coaching experience. He has run in several marathons, and was n a m e d the USA Track and Field Marathon National Champion in 1994. "He is so knowledgeable about the sport," Shepherd said. "He's got a lot of experience coaching athletes, and with his own running experience, he's been able to translate that well to us." Assisting Pilkington this year is a very familiar face to WSU athletics. Lindsey Anderson was named assistant coach, and brings with her a lot of talent, experience and of course, knowledge. Lindsey was a former Weber State All- American, who earned a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, and competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. "It's amazing to have someone at that level training with you," Haws said. "For her to be an Olympian and be training with you every day is really cool. She teaches us a lot, gives good advice, and is easy to relate to." The first cross country meet of the year, for the Wildcats, is the Utah State Open.
