"It was awesome," Higham said. "I love going to Boise. I've played many tournaments in Boise and so I felt at home and I love being there." Amy Mombert and Heather Balli also shot well in the closing round. Both players finished by shooting a 77 in the final round. "I liked the course," Mombert said. "After the practice round, I thought to myself that 'This was a course that I could score on."1 Weber State also finished third among six Big Sky schools that competed. Smith calls the way that his team played a "mixed bag." "Overall, it was a good effort and we were kind of happy," Smith said. "One of the things we have to work on is consistency. We've got to get little more consistent rather than the real low round, then the high round." Mombert agrees with Smith, the team hasn't played consistently this season and feels that part of its problems were because of extended travel. The short trip helped them in this tournament, she said. "We didn't have to travel quite as far; we had a car ride instead of a plane flight," Mombert said. "We just traveled three weeks in a row, then we'd be home for two days and then we'd leave again. We haven't had as much time to work on our game between tournaments." UC Davis in its first year of competition finished first with a 915 score, claiming the team title over the University of Idaho by three shots. Eastern Washington finished third overall and first among Big Sky Conference schools. Montana finished with a one shot lead over Weber State, while Portland State finished one shot behind. Montana State finished 10th overall and Idaho State finished last amongst the 14 teams. You can reach reporter Todd Broadhead by calling 626-7983. Givens said being able to use a variety of players out there allows him to throw some different looks at the opposition. The other team doesn't know what's coming. "We need everybody to be ready at any given time," Givens said. "We used a lot of different players tonight and they all took turns contributing." Team captain Shelby Wai ford didn't get as much time on the court as she had in some previous matches, but was happy to do what was best for the team. "Anytime we can get people in there that contribute and are positive; hey, whatever combination of six you get that works, works," Walford said. The crowd was loud and proud cheering on their 'Cats. "That was the difference." Weber State's Murphey said she likes what she's seeing and agrees with Prunel! that the Wildcat volleyball work ethic is paying off.
