They took two Mountain West Conference teams to five games in a raucus atmosphere at the Swenson Gym. Even the No. 17 team in the country, Brigham Young University, was noticably fazed by the atmosphere at WSU. BYU's coach said there isn't a tougher venue his team will play in this season. Saturday's game against Sac State is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Swenson Gym. So come out and be a part of the toughest gym in the West Wildcat fans. Beating Sac State would be a huge boost for WSU early in the conference season and you could actually play a role in helping them do so. The Wildcats wont return home again until Oct. 12 when they will take on Montana State University. WSU runningbackTrevyn Smith (below) runs a pass from WSU quarterback Cameron Higgins during the Homecoming game. Higgins will replace Barnes as starting quarterback Saturday against FCS-ranked No. 1 the University of Montana. McBride said Montana will be a formidable challenge. As quoted on the WSU Web site, Mcbride said, "They deserve the number one ranking. They are rock solid in every phase of the game which makes it hard to spot or find a weakness you can try to exploit . . . They always have big, physical players up front to protect so we need to find a way to penetrate and put some pressure on the quarterback. Defensively they aren't big but very athletic and fast. They also have tremendous special teams as well." The Grizzlies and Wildcats have played four times in the past seven years and the Grizzles have been over the Wildcats 4-0. Montana University will host the Wildcats on Saturday to a sold-out crowd of over 24,000. The game will be broadcast on the radio at KLO - 1430 AM. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. (MDT).
