The country has tried to combat this by offering group weddings. After the incident, he managed to ride his motorcycle to a nearby hospital where he received 11 stitches. Myanmar curfew disobedience causes shooting Survivor says hijackers shot crew YANGON, Myanmar- Nine people were killed and 11 more wounded, Thursday when security forces fired into a crowd of protestors. Tens of thousands of protestors broke the curfew law that was put into practice earlier this week. The protests started Aug. 19 over a fuel-price hike, but got worse when Buddhist monks started leading the marches. Several monasteries were raided and over a hundred monks were arrested or beaten. 17-pound baby born to Siberian woman BARNAUL, Russia-A woman in Siberia gave birth to her twelfth child on Sept. 17 nearly breaking the record of largest child born. The baby, Nadia, was delivered by caesarean section in the local hospital; weighing in at 17 pounds 1 ounce. Tatyana Barabanova, 43, Nadia's mother, was shocked that her baby weighed so much. She said she didn't change her diet when she found out she was pregnant. Despite Nadia's large size, she doesn't hold the record. The biggest baby on record weighed 22 pounds. This closure will runfrom9 p.m. to 5 a.m. MIAMI, Florida-One of the two men who chartered a pleasure boat in the Florida Straits said the boat was hijacked and the rest of the crew was captured and killed. The boat was found abandoned, in disarray and empty, and the two survivors were found in a life boat. Guillermo Zarabozo, 19, said he and the other man survived because they followed orders, while the crew did not. Authorities have reason to believe he is lying. He may have been involved in a theft of nearly $92,000 in cash from a Wal-Mart in Batesville, Ak., and may be fleeing. Ex-vice principal gets death for murdering family BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-A former elementary vice principal received the death penalty Thursday for the brutal murders of his wife, mother-inlaw and three small children. Vincent Brothers, 45, was convicted in May of five counts of firstdegree murder. Prosecuters say he flew more than 2,000 miles to create an alibi, then drove back to Bakersfield in a rental car so he could kill his family. The victims were stabbed and shot to death after returning from church.
