The Wildcats seems to lose its games in the fourth quarter, much like the Utah Jazz of old: No matter how hard a game they played, how far ahead the team was in the fourth quarter, something always happened and they lost This season, the Weber State football team has gone through the struggles of a new coaching staff. With a new approach on playing the game brings new trials to the team. With McBride's detail-oriented coaching style, these boys should pull a win in this Saturday's Homecoming game. "The team has learned how to play as a team," McBride said. "Now it comes to detail of assignment." With the losses to University of Montana and Montana State University behind them, theWSU team needs to look forward. "We have two disappointing losses," Mcbride said. "But we can't let that weigh on us mentally." With the frustration in their minds, the 'Cats need to remember those 24 mistakes in last week's game, if fixed for this Saturday's game, could make a difference. "We are excited; the last few games were a little hard to swallow," running back Sione Havili said. "Just look for one'W' at a time." McBride echoes Havili's statement. "The team has the potential to win these teams and they need to know that," McBride said. "They are just as good as anyone else." The new coaching staff has started to focus on the fourth quarter. The last few losses seemed to be due to the opposing team's greater drive to win in the fourth. If WSU can take its starting momentum "The team has the potential to win these teams and they need to know that They are just as good as anyone else/' - Ron McBride, WSU head football coach into the fourth quarter, many say they will start seeing different ending results. Coaches this year are asking more from the team during practice - physically and mentally. "We have 98 percent of the team willing to change and make the changes for the new staff," assistant football coach Henry Lusk said. Mentally preparing is a big part of what Bryant Eteuati has done for this Saturdays game, Eteuati is a freshman from Layton and is starting on special teams as the kick reauner. "(We) need to prepare physically," said defensive corner Dewey Crayton. "They have some good athletes." The 'Cats are going over mistakes made in previous games during practices and preparing physically and mentally. Players say they should be ready for the Homecoming game Saturday. "If everything is done right, we can beat them," Lusks said. Other players agreed. "I am confident about the game," cornerback John Collins said. "If the defense keeps playing like they have been, then Ian will handle the rest." You can leave a message for reporter Alicia Bailey by calling 626-7983.
