Two violinists won competitions in the last two months, and a dancer was selected to present at a national conference attended by over 300 schools. Lindsay Child is a Weber State University music major and this year's conccrtmaster for the Weber State Symphony Orchestra. She took first place at this year's Utah American String Teacher's Association competition. To participate, she first sent in a demo tape. She was then selected to perform live before three judges. "I just did my best because that is all I can do," Child said. Child said her mother, also a violin player, encouraged her to compete. Her private instructor at WSU, Shi-Hwa Wang, also supported her.
