He is too busy playing professional basketball in New Zealand. A few weeks ago, Cuff was contacted by Tracy Carpenter, coach of the Waikato Warriors, a semi-pro team in Hamilton, New Zealand. He asked Cuff if he would come down and play professional basketball for the rest of their season. Cuff was referred to Carpenter by an old WSU teammate, Jimmy DeGraffenried, who has been playing with the Warriors since early February. Carpenter had heard good things about Cuff and had seen him play on video tape. But Cuff wasn't exactly sure if playing overseas was what he wanted to do right now. After all, he was expected to graduate this quarter with a degree in Spanish teaching. He also had to think about his wife, Lisa, who just finished court reporting school. She was working with a good firm and was really enjoying it. Yet, the thought of having the opportunity to play professional basketball over-seas was almost too much to think about. Playing basketball after college has been a dream of Cuff 's since he was old enough to throw his patented no-look-behind-the-back passes. "All through college you think what it would be like to go See Cuff page 10 Phone: 626-7983 Wildcat triathlon club, outlet forsents' passions By Brian Smith sports writer - Signpost The extracurricular programs at Weber State University provide students an opportunity to pursue their unbridled passions. One of the newest additions to the program is the Triathlon Club which was founded by Jared Allen and Marcel Archuleta, who is currently the adviser for the club. The club was founded with the intent to go find others at WSU who have the same passion for the sport and to create an environment of camaraderie and friendship. "The club really provides an opportunity for its members to do what they enjoy , with others that have a similar passion for the sport," Allen said. The club consists of 15 members both men and women who are currently enrolled as ii WSU students and some that have joined the club simply for the competitiveness and .a shared fondness for the sport The club is currently in the embryonic stage, but by the end ; of the quarter the club hopes to influence ones life in many ways. Running is medicine for the soul," Allen said. See Club page 10 |
