WSU Police investigate crimes at dorms The Weber State University resident halls were on the police department's most-visited list this week, with two seperate criminal reports on the same day. May 9, a resident of La Sal Hall reported the theft of a wallet from her dorm room. The wallet, which contained $170, was taken while the woman was out of her room. The victim told police she and her roommatesometimes leave the door to the room unlocked, but did not know if the door was unlocked at the time of the theft. Police have no suspects in the case. Also May 9, a man called WSU police to report damage to the vinyl door of his Jeep. The victim told officers he had parked the vehicle in the Wasatch Hall parking lot overnight. The next day, the man found the door had been slashed with a sharp object just below the window.Police have not identified any suspects for the crime. Woman reports bag missing from library A woman in the Stewart Library called police May 10 when her bookbag was stolen from the building. The victim told police she had WSU Campus Police Beat By Katie Coombs Signpost senior reporter left the bag on the floor for about an hour while she worked in another area of the library. When she returned to where she had left the bag, it was no longer there. She told police the bag contained $60 to $70 in cash. Police have not yet located the bag. UHP warns of driving fatigue during summer The Utah Highway Patrol offers this safe driving tip: summer is the most fatal time of the year to drive. Prolonged driving sessions and changes in daily routine can be deadly. Plan your trip early to allow for adequa te drive time and rest stops every two hours. Travel during the daylight hours on main roads. Careful planning can lead to a safe and pleasant vacation.
