Show Is this legal? . i S Weber State University anthropology club members Warren Jones, Militza Powell and Robert Hamilton practice using atlatls on the lower quad field west of the Social Science building. The students were sharpening their accuracy and distance skills in preparation for an atlatl throw being held at Crystal Hot Springs this past weekend. Chief from frontpage Fielding's main focus. He is currently minoring in communication, and the only thing that draws his gaze from the pages of The Signpost are his wide assortment of other interests. As a result, what he wants to be when he grows up "changes from quarter to quarter." "I'm just interested in too many things," he said. Some of these interests include archeology, criminal justice and World -Championship Wrestling namely the professional wrestler Sting. Even though Sting hasn't helped him put out an issue of The Signpost, Fielding says it's wrestling that helps him escape from the stress generated at the paper. "Mondays I turn on Nitro to keep from going insane. I get so stressed out here, I go home and watch senseless violence to cool off," Fielding said with a grin. Fielding's dedication to The Signpost is well-known among the paper's staff. "Many times Taylor puts in 12-hour days," said Mellyn Cole, The Signpost's current managing editor. "He arrives fairly early in the day and stays until well past midnight. I never worry about the paper when Taylor's around." Sports editor, Andrew Aragon, agrees. "He's spent a lot of time here. His experience will pay off," Aragon said. "He's a hard worker, and he's a wrestling fan." Fielding's goals for next year inr elude networking, using the police scanner to catch news that might otherwise be missed, and tapping into resources, like the internet, which haven't been used extensively in the past. He said he wants to make sure The Signpost, and its reporters are visible on campus. "It will help us get more news that we miss now because people don't know what The Signpost is," Fielding said. Fielding feels he has a slight ad- vantage over Cole, the 1997-98 editor in chief, because many of The Signpost staff members are returning for another year. "We have a really good base to build from for next year," he said. "A lot of people this year aren't graduating. That's a real change from last year when we were putting together a whole new staff. We really were starting from scratch last year." Angela Wadman, news editor, looks forward to being a part of that staff. "Next year will be a wonderful year with him as the new editor in chief because of his experiences and the knowledge he has," she said. Fielding's hobbies besides The Signpost include reading, when he has a chance, science fiction and of course, professional wrestling. "I'm a real scifi fantasy nut," Fielding said. "There's a convention in Salt Lake in a couple of weeks, and I'm going to be there." Other times, Fielding said he likes to sit listening to his police scanner, with the TV tuned to CNN, just soaking in the news. Just like a reporter. i Hey You! Yeah, You! A list of staff phone numbers is on page 4. Correction: In Friday's issue of Beyond the Grind, a headline incorrectly identified the late John Wayne as a serial killer. The headline meant to identify John Wayne Gacy, a serial killer executed in Illinois. Correction: In Wednesday's issue of The Signpost, some details regarding the Model UN's April 12-15 competition were misreported. Andrea Sutton, who was the French delegate to the Fifth Committee, was awarded the position of "rapporteur" (outstanding delegate elected by the members in each of the six committees. The position has been won by WSU students in three of the last four years. Also, David Akpan's last name was incorrectly spelled, Akplan. The Signpost would like to thank Nancy Haanstad, Model UN adviser, for bringing these errors to our attention. 5693 S. Harrison Blu. Ogden 343 N. Frontage Rd.
