For the 1990 season Coach Hislop has selected three young men, all of whom are from the Ogden area. These three recruits are Warren Jones, Chris Jones, and Josh Sorenson. Warren Jones, an incoming freshman from Ben Lomond High School, won the 1989 State 3 A Cross Country meet as well as the two mile run at the 1990 State 3A Track and Field Championship. Chris Jones, also from Ben Lomond, is Warren's twin brother. Chris finished behind Warren to take second in both the State Cross Country Meet and the two mile run at the Track and Field finals. "I think that they are the two best runners in the state, and I expect them to do even better in college because of their ability to do better with longer, distances," stated Coach Hislop. Josh Sorenson from Ogden High School is the third new recruit for this upcoming season. Josh, who took first in the one mile run, placed third behind the Jones brothers in the two mile run, at the State 3A Track and Field Championship. "This year we have five people returning to the team and I am looking forward to winning a second consecutive conference championship," said Coach Hislop. In womens competition Coach Jim Blaisedell expects his two recruits, Cindy Reeder and Cathy Jolley, to be great additions to the team. Cindy Reeder of Heber City, is a transfer student from Ricks College and will be running for Weber as a junior. Cindy is the national champion in 1500 meter run in track and field, while she missed qualifying for the National Cross Country Championship by one spot. "Cindy is a very quality runner and will fit right in," states Coach Blaisedell. The second womens recruit is Cathy Jolley who is an incoming freshman from Cottonwood High School. Cathy finished third in the State 4A Cross Country Championship, as well as third in the one mile run at the 4A Track and Field Championships. "I consider Cathy to be one of the top senior distance runners last year, and will be just as good in our program," said Coach Blaisedell. "I think that with the returning runners and the new recruits, the womens cross country will be a team to be looking for at the Conference Championship," said Coach Blaisedell.
