Show Signpost-Tuesday, September 24, 1985 11B ports Briefs Weber junior varsity plays BYU on Friday The Weber State Junior Varsity Football team will host the Brigham Young University JV on Fridav at 2:00 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. The Wildcats have another game with the BYU JV later this year at Provo. Everyone is invited to attend the game and see next year's stars in action. Ski team will hold meeting Hagan receives scholarship Veterans football team to form The veterans at Weber State are looking for a few good men to compete on an intramural football team. According to Lee Borup of the Veterans Academic Center, all veterans are invited to join the team, which will be participating in the afternoon leagues. If there is enough interest, more than one team will be formed. "Don't think you're too old to play," said Borup. "Well have fun just playing." Borup hopes that the veterans can field other teams in other activites All those interested, contact Lee Borup at 626-7033, or ask at the Veterans Academic Center. The Weber State ski team is preparing for the upcoming season and invites anyone interested in competing to attend their first meeting. The meeting will be held Sept. 26th at 10:30 a.m. at the Intramural Department office in the Swenson Gym. At this time, there will be discussions on memberships, schedules and fund-raising activities.The team is open to all interested WSC men and women students. The ski team is a member of the National Collegiate Ski Association (NCSA), and it will hold a series of dual meets this season against squads from BYU, Utah State, Ricks College, Utah Technical College, and others. This year's officers include the following persons: Dennis Nielsen, president; Mark Balboni, vice president; and Shelly Peterson, secretary-treasurer. B-ball team needs managers The Weber State Basketball team is looking for team managers. Five managers are needed to help the team this year, and no experience is needed. This will be a great chance to meet the squad and work with the new basketball coaching staff. Anyone interested should contact Assistant Coach Dick Hunsaker at 626-6496. Weber State basketball standout Kent I lagan has been awarded an NCAA post-graduate scholarship by the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship Committee.I lagan graduated from Weber last spring with a degree in Physical Education and a 3.60 GPA. He was originally chosen as an alternate selection, but, because another awardee was unable to accept the scholarship, Hagan will recieve the 82,000 award. Hagan was a starter for the Wildcats last year, averaging 12.3 points a game. He also established new WSC and Big Sky records for free-throw percentage in a season with a .905 mark. Price makes coaching changes Coach Mike Price announced two coaching changes in his staff for the upcoming season. Rod Harrison, who has spent the past four years as Weber State's Junior Varsity head coach and assistant defensive and offensive line coach, has been named the defensive line coach. He has replaced Doug Fiore, who left WSC to take a similar job at Utah State. John McDonell, a part time assistant offensive line coach, has been made full time assistant offensive line coach in charge of the team's centers and guards.
