Mike Coe-Roy, Utah (Roy High School) Coe was an outstanding three sport athlete in football, basketball and outdoor track; took second in the Utah State 4A meet in the 800-meters (1:58); versatile runner who ran events from the 400-meters up to the 3200-meters, was Roy High's studentbody president for the 1983-84 year. Robert Durtschi-North Logan, Utah (Sky View High School) Durtschi was the 1984 Utah State 3A champion in both the 1600 and 3200-meter runs; had the best time in the entire state in both events - 4: 19.3 for the 1600 and 9:28.6 for the 3200; was the 1983 State 4A champion in the 3200-meters before Sky View was realigned to 3A; was second in the 1983 Cross Country meet. John Jusko-Ogden, Utah (St. Joseph's High School) Jusko had the fastest time in the entire state in any classification in the 100 and 200-meters dashes at 10.87 and 22.00 respectively; won both events at the state 1A championships, was voted the Outstanding Performer at the Ogden Standard-Examiner'Weber State College Invitational last April. James Moore -Clearfield Utah (Clearfield High School) Won the 1984 Utah State 4A pole vault title with a leap of 14-6, helping Clearfield's team to a third place finish in the state meet; the 14-6 jump is the highest jump of any high schooler in the state of Utah this year; also won the Region One and OSEWSC Invitational pole vault titles as well. Chris Wehrli-Salt Lake City, Utah (Olympus High School) 1984 Utah State 4A champion in the 110-meter high hurdles; his time of 14.63 was the best time in the entire state this year. Brad Larsen Larsen To Serve As Olympic Press Aide Brad Larsen, Sports Information Director at Weber State College, has been asked to serve as a PressMedia Aide for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Larsen's specific responsibility will be manning the Press Sub-Center on the UCLA campus. The UCLA Sub-Center is the primary press outlet for the Gymnastics competition which will be held inside Pauley Pavillion. The Sub-Center, located in the Ackerman Student Union Building, contains interview areas, Electronic Message Senders, photography areas and television monitors. Over 400 national and international journalists are expected to cover the Gymnastics competition.Larsen is scheduled to leave on Monday, July 16 for a two week training period. The actual games get underway on July 29 and run through August 12. Hislop To Speak At Olympic Meetings Chick Hislop, head track and field coach at Weber State College, has been asked to speak at the International Track Coaches Congress meeting in Santa Monica, California, in conjunction with the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The clinic runs from July 29 through August 2 at the Sheraton Hotel. In attendance will be national and international coaches, representing many nations and different events. Hislop's speech will deal with the training aspects of steeplechasers. The 14-year veteran coach of the Wildcats has become somewhat of a noted authority on the event. In the last five years, he has had 10 runners who have run 8:55 or better in the event. Seven of them have appeared in the NCAA Outdoor Meet and one of them, Farley Gerber, won this year's NCAA Steeplechase in a time of 8:19.27, the second fastest time ever by an American and the fastest ever by a Collegiate American. Gerber, along with teammates Mark Wayment and Darin Williams, each placed in the National Junior Championships as well.
