Signpost photoDennis Miller Seminars Offered On Harris Computer Each quarter Academic User Services, Computing Services, offers seminars to teach faculty, staff and students how to use the Harris computer. The seminars offered this quarter include Introduction to the Harris system amd how to use the Job Control. These seminars begin the week of June 18 and are scheduled throughout the first six weeks of the quarter. Each one-hour seminar is offered from 1-2 p.m. in TE 105 and no advanced registration is necessary. Other seminars are also available on request. These seminars include Introduction to INFO, a user-oriented data base management language; MUSE, a full-screen word processing language; Introduction to SPSS, a statistical package for data analysis and reduction. Also, a faculty member can request that a seminar, like Introduction to the BASIC-V Compiler and the other seminars listed above, be conducted for students in their class. The schedule of when the seminars are offered appear in the Summer Quarter Academic User Service Newsletter that was mailed to WSC faculty and staff the week of June 11. Approximately 30,000 scouts and scouters from across the nation will gather for two weeks of camping, skill development and leadership training. Dr. Brady has been active in the scouting movement for almost 40 years and served at all levels of scouting including four years as chairman of the National Cub Scout Committee and two years as president of the 70-council Western Region. He is the recipient of the Silver Beaver, Silver Buffalo and Silver Antelope awards and is well'known for his widely published addresses and documents which outline the basic ethical principles and character-building attributes of scouting. Brady is a native of Sandy, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah and received a doctoral degree from Harvard University. Prior to becoming president of WSC in 1978, he served as senior executive in several major national and international corporations. He also served as a member of the sub-cabinet of the president of the United States as assistant secretary of Health Education and Welfare. He is currently the chairman of the Natinal Committee on Accreditation and Institutional Eligibility for the U.S. Department of Education. In addition to his national scouting leadership assignments, Brady has served as a local volunteer scout leader in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Tucson, Arizona; Washington D.C.; and Los Angeles, California, as well as in Utah.
