Sandy Herst took second in the women's free-throw. '''" - Bowling This years bowling intramural tournament was held at the U.B. Bowling Alley. Intramurals would like to thank Mike Evans for the super job he did in coordinating with the Intramural Department. This years turnout was superior to last years. The competition was very good with the respective winners scoring very well. In the men's teams division, the' CPL winners were from Beta with a team total of 1910 series. Members of the championship teams were Dave Felt, Bill Boschetto, Jim McBryde, and Chris Imhoff. The RPL winner was the team of the "Washouts" with a team total of 1518. Members of that team include Budd Black, Scott Jacobsen, John Wrasper and Tom Curtis. The men's competition was very tough with Jimmy Majors of TKE winning the three game series by barely beating Gregory Simon. Majors rolled a 517 series to beat Simon who rolled a 516 to take second place. The women's singles competition, Sharon Baxter rolled a 437 to win the women's CPL singles title by beating Dana Bia, N.A.C., who rolled a 382 series to take second place. In the RPL division, Lesley Morris of N.A.C. took first place by rolling a 339 series. In women's team competition, CPL division, the team of P.E. Majors took first placy by rolling 1419 series. The team consisted of Patrice Behunin, Kathy Lewis, Shauna Davis, and Corinne Burn-ingham. It was the Alpha Chi Omega team of Wendy Rosenbaum, Suzanne Olsen, Gaylianne Harvey and Robin Acres who rolled series of 1229 to win the RPL division. The coed tournament was won by the team of Marcy Hillman and Greg Simons who had a team total series of 891 to beat the team of Dana Bia and Art Hornell of Native American Council. Jl S8 -ft X 't - I , I . v. i. Tiny Scriven, a member of the winning Promotory Towers team, took second in his weight class. Cross-Country Skiing Cross-country skiing has been labeled the fastest growing sport in the United States, but here at WSC it is the deadest. Our cross-country meet had 8 entrants with only 3 showing up at Snow Basin for the actural race. We were some what disappointed. Our winners this year were (1) Dan Gray, (2) Steve Petty and (3) David Walling. Free-Throw This year's Free-Throw Competition was held on February 8 at noon in the Swenson Gymnasium. The turnout this year was one of the better ones in Weber State Intramural history. There were a total of 48 contestants - 46 men and 2 women. All the participants shot a total of 25 free-throws, with the person making the most being the winner. The men's winner was Mike Simpson who hit a total of 23 out of 25. Taking second place was Shane Cragun who made 22 out of 25 and tieing for third place were Tony Washington and Steve Spafford who made 21 a peice. For the women, both Sandy Herbst and Cathy Smith hit a total of 23 out of 25 in regulation play. After a tie-breaker, in which they both hit 8 out of 10, Cathy Smith eventually became thewinner. Powerlifting This year's powerlifting contest was held in the Swenson Gym weightroom. The men's competition was held on February 13 with three teams involved. The winning team was the Promontory Towers Team consisting of Arne Erisoty, Erwin Stone, Pete Cardinale and Tiny Scrivens followed by the Pikes and Beta respectively. Individual winners were Kevin Karican, Scott Musser, Darryl Pollard, Mike Lee, Jim Cunningham, and Anthony Dozier taking the super weight class. The women's contest was held on February 15th with only one team entered in the competition which was the dorm team consisting of Shelly Anderson, Simone Fritz, Becky Langaas and Tanya Schumaker. They were managed by Arnie Erisoty. |
