At the outset of the school year, the Chrysler Corporation introduced a game for college students called the Pentastar Challenge, in the form of a calendar. Hidden in the pages of the calendar, which runs from September 1982 to August 1983, are clues to five different riddles. The riddles are grouped into five major disciplines: Music, Math, Computer Science, Chemistry and Literature. The prizes for the five riddles are the same. Each winner will receive a $5,000 grant or scholarship and the free use of a new Dodge Charger or Plymouth Turismo for one year. Silver medals are offered for second place winners. After studying the calendar, this scribe could not decipher the riddles, let alone the answers. This in one tough puzzle, or rather series of puzzles. However, according to a recent Wall Street Journal article, two math majors from eastern colleges teamed up to answer the music riddle, so they can be solved. So far, the other four riddles remain to be solved.
