Show Players, Manager Wanted The WSC men's basketball program is seeking students for its JV basketball team and also is looking for a student manager for the varsity team. JV try-outs will be held on Oct. 17, at 5 p.m. in the Dee Events Center. Those wishing to try out should come dressed and ready for play. This year's JV team has a tentative schedule of 12 games. They will be coached by Dan Skinner, a newly hired coach at Weber State. Contact him at 626-6496 for more information. Also, anyone interested in filling a student manager position can contact either Coach Dan Dion at 626-6578 or Coach Dick Hunnsaker at 626-6859. This manager will be responsible for helping out with practices and will be rewarded with a tuition waiver. Rugby Club Started If you're interested in playing rugby, then you might consider joining Weber's new rugby club, the War Hogs. With Jeff Fraser as president, the club plays against 17 other teams in the Great Basin Rubgy Union. The club is required to play five matches before it can be officially accepted into the rugby union. The five matches will be played this fall and will qualify Weber's team as a member in the spring. The club will be playing against Utah State at Logan tomorrow at 9 a.m. Their first home match will be played on Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. Fraser invites anyone who is interested in playing to come to a club practice. Practices are held each Monday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. on the soccer field below the gym. Fraser says that you don't have to be a pro to play the game. "The game is much easier to master than football," said Fraser. He also said that the team has two of the top coaches in the area: Jim Lindsey and Norman Soaki. If rugby sounds like something that you might want to try, show up at one of the practices and get acquainted with the sport. For more information, you can contact Fraser at 392-5021 or 394-3957.
