"We're very happy with our recruiting year," said assistant basketball coach, Dick Hunsaker. "We have filled clAssifiEds some voids in our program and have added overall team depth." Joining the Weber State "Big Sky Champions" for next year are four very qualified young ball players: Shawn Campbell, a seven-footer from Utah Tech; Kevin Linder, from Vanderbilt University who was a redshirt on last year's team and will be eligible for Wildcat ball next season; and two teammates from Lassen Junior College near Sacramento Charles Carradine and Martin Nish. Campbell, a former Layton High basketball player, had a fine season last year at Utah Tech. Six-foot-five Carradine averaged 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game while playing at Lassen Junior College. And teammate Martin Nish, standingsix-foot-eight, averaged 16 points and nine rebounds per game. Carradine and Campbell have already started getting acquainted with Weber State, as they have enrolled in spring quarter classes. And Linder, being a redshirt from last year, is already familiar with our campus. Hunsaker said that Campbell is busy lifting weights and playing a good pick-up game with the team. "Campbell has been working hard and will make a strong contribution to the team." Weber State was looking for some local recruits, but Sie Moore, Bonneville High's forward standout decided to go to the University of Utah and Reid Newey, Roy High's star player decided to go to Utah State. "We were disappointed that they chose to leave Weber County," said Hunsaker. "We felt that with the strong community support behind the two players, that they would stay home." Weber State is still involved with going after some more recruits. "We have our main players now and anymore that we sign will just be putting the icing on the cake," said Hunsaker.
