Quarterback Greg Davis, still-ailing from an arm injury sustained in last week's 16-13 loss to Portland State, is still a questionable starter for tomorrow's game in which the Wildcats renew their rivalry with strong Montana. Should Davis remain in-capacited, the Wildcats will start Bill Tantillo, who has thus far completed 10 of 20 passes for 67" yards and led Weber well while seeing limited action. The Grizzlies feature a strong passing attack and have scored four times through the air this year. Quarterback Bob Boyes has a variety of fine receivers to throw to, and their rushing game is adequate with tailback Rocky Klever carrying most of the load. Weber State could easily be 2-1, but have been victimized by strong armed quarterbacks in two games. "We haven't played badly," said Riehlman, who has worked hard to better last year's 4-7 mark. But we're still confident about the Montana game. Our kids still have a good attitude." Offensively, Weber's backfield will be strengthened with the return of Willie Glasper and a revitalized Eric Hill. Hill, who gained 133 yards rushing last week, of which about 100 of those came in the first half, has been the best runner for the Wildcats this year, while Wimpy Roberson and Kelvin Matthews have also contributed. The kicking game for Weber appears sound, as Bill Kelly has punted for a 40 yard average, and Roger Ruzek has kicked field goals of 42 and 33 yards this year. Kelly, down from a hefty 265 pounds to a more trim 245, may see action at quarterback later this year if he continues to shed some excess pounds. Linebacker Otto Ribary has spearheaded the defense, and will get help from Danny Rich, Mike Humiston and Ray Franklin at that position. The defensive backfield, weakened by the loss of Bruce Perry, will be guided by Mark Massey, Elbert Gray, Dennis McMaster, and Dale Getty. first half alone last week against Portland State. James noted, "it is interesting that the past two years have been not only the best for the Wildcat athletic program, but were for the booster club as well." He attributes this success to good rapport between community and school. win vs. The series between the two schools has been a long and iiai d fought one, and goes back to 1962. Montana holds a 13-4 advantage in the series, and last year beat Weber 27-7 in Ogden. Riehlman's first victory as Weber's head coach came against the Grizzlies in 1977, when Weber won 31-23.
