Show Mav 5, 1978 Signpost Voce coeds present recital Sacred songs, art songs, madrigals, contemporary compositons and selections from current Broadway Musicals will be presented by the Weber State College Voce Coeds at their annual Spring Concert, Thursday, May 11. The 26-member Girl's Choir will stage the free concert at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Little Theater. Evelyn Harris is the director and Jolene Dalton is the accompanist for the group. The Voce Coeds just recently returned from a tour to Richfield, Cedar City, and St. George. The songs to be performed by the group include "Three Canticles for Treble Voices" by Lijestrand, "Three Precious Gifts" by Baksa, directed by Darlene Anderson, student director, "A Jubilant Song" by Dello Joio, and a medley from the Broadway Musical, "Annie" by Charnin-Strouse, followed by highlights from another Broadway Musical, "A Chorus Line" by Hamlisch and Kleban. A special feature of this last number will be special dancing by Pam Thompson and Jana Jacobs who have also served as choreographers this year for Voce Coeds. The program will include vocal solos by Becky Gidley, Ann Seamons, Darlene Anderson, and Kelly Tillotson. A piano solo will be performed by Jolene Dalton, a trio by Becky Gidley, Kelly Tillotsen, and Karen Stutz-negger, and a duet by Jolene Dalton and Kathy Butler featuring Derek Furch, string bass, Dan Daniowsky, drums, and Tim Farr, guitar. Darlene Anderson's solo, "Song of a Silver Bird" will be sung in Chinese and will feature Tim Farr on the flute obligato. The last section of the concert is highlighted by exerpts from current Broadway Musicals and light popular numbers. Adding to the presentation of these num bers is the special staging and choreography. Jana Jacobs will do a spcial modern dance as the Voce Coeds sing, "You Are Beautiful." The Voce Coeds will be assisted on these numbers by special guest performers Derek Furch, bass and guitar, and Dan Daniowsky, percussion. The program is full of variety and there is something to please everyone. The public is cordially invited to attend. Student photos A reception tonight at 7 p.m. will highlight the student photography exhibit to be held in the Weber State College Photography Department running through May 26. Student photography will be displayed and judged. Summer positions available Any student interested in working on the summer College Work-Study program beginning June 1, 1978 should immediately file their application as it takes time for the applications to be processed. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Aids. Carillon concert Fri. Weber State College will present a Bell Tower concert today during the Technical Education Building Dedication and Founders' Day ceremonies from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Afton Castlemain, carilloneur for the event, will play Weber State's school song "Purple and White," and old favorites written by Stephen Foster, "May Night," "Sweethearts," and "God Bless America," to name a few. The public is invited to attend free of charge and gather around the Stewart Bell Tower. X&f i : jim Women's workshop Weber State College Division of Continuing Education will present a business workshop for tomorrow minorities, women, and small business owners. It is presented as a public service in the WSC Union Building, room 338. Registration begins at 8-8:30 followed by lectures throughout the morning. John Medina, Chairman of Minority Economic Development Coalition of Utah (MEDCU) will speak first on "Why should I want to go into business?". Dale Randall, of the Small Business Administration, will speak on "Financing a small Business," followed by Lyle Stoner whofie topic is "Procurement Opportunities.""Women in Business" is a panel discussion beginning at 11 with panel members Carol Selby, "Loneliness Factor" "Does life exist elsewhere in the universe? If so, what would it look like, and how would we communicate with it?" Those questions are addressed in "The Loneliness Factor," the current program at WSC's Layton P. Ott Planetarium. The "Loneliness Factor " was produced by the Hansen Planetarium in Salt Lake City. It will be presented at the Weber State Planetarium each Wednesday evening "ntil May 31. The program starts at 7 p.m., and admission is $.50 for students and $1 for adults. Jane Marquardt, Janice Johansen. and Mickey Burdette.
