Show oct. 27. 1972 pae 6 signpost inaugural seal blends tradition with future The old blending with the new is the way Dean Hurst, assistant to the president, described the newly designed Inaugural Seal. A composite of ideas submitted by several members of the Inaugural Committee, comprised of students, faculty, staff, members of the community, etc., the seal is hoped to eventually become the official seal of Weber State College, replacing the present one adopted while Weber was a junior college. The new seal symbolizes a break with the past and a looking toward the future with the college being a four year institution now under new leadership, Hurst said. The outer circle of the emblem contains the words Weber State College with the year 1889, the year the college was founded. Inside the circle is the old block "W" which for years was the accepted symbol of Weber State. Superimposed on the "W" is what has become the new symbol of Weber State, the Stewart Bell Tower. The two are surrounded by branches which stand for achievement. Although destinc-tive in design, the new emblem will probably not replace the present official seal for a while so that articles such as existing stationary with the old seal may be used up. cabinet okays sale of acorn during 'homecoming week' $ VI IV vM WW WW tit V J t mm In Executive Cabinet meeting Monday, Brent Jepperson was given authorization to sell old editions of the "Acorn" during Homecoming Week.
