Lagoon Show Turtles Present Concert, Dance The Turtles, one of the hottest new groups in the teen music scene, will appear at Lagoon's Patio Gardens on Saturday, June 24. They call themselves The Turtles, but in the short time they've been part of the popular music scene, their pace has been more the opposite of the crawl characteristic of their namesake. They shot into national prominence with their first record, "It Ain't Me, Babe" (White Whale). Within a month after its release, they were starring on top TV variety shows like "Hollywood A Go- Go", "Shiveree", "Lloyd Thaxton Show", and "Where The Action Is". Two months after their debut song hit the airwaves, they were headlining at Hollywood's noted Crescend Tiger Tail, and featured performers on two Herman's Hermits Shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco. They wound up an action-packed summer with guest star billing on The Dick Clark Caravan crosscountry tour. This fall they bow on TV's "Shindig" show. Hurst, who is also Weber State's development fund director, is energetically and enthusiastically trying to change the "old image" of Weber State" alumni. Students often have the opinion that alumni are stereo-typed individuals who do nothing more than attend banquets and wear beanies during homecoming week, he said, but we are changing all that. "The Weber State alumni is now involved in library bookfund drives, other fund-raisingprojects and publication of a tri-yearly magazine," he said. "We will work with student leaders during homecoming week including our own alumni assembly, Hurst said, "as all alumni are vital, productive individual who serve as good examples to the students."The alumni association is striving to be a more progress STREBEL I O Levis, iee, Wranglers O Hats O Shirts I O (Everything for the Square 3717 Riverdale Rd. "The alumni association is continuing to grow and mature," Hurst added, "through the work of many capable men and women."
