This is actually an intelligence test in disguise, so to anyone translating this dissertation correctly we are offering a magnificent prize donated by the Life Science Department; the original manuscript of many years research entitled: The Social Life of the African Tapeworm. To get you started on your perilous but rewarding journey into the life of Little Red Riding Hood, I will translate the prologue for you. It goes like this . . . (Here's another fairy story, told in other words, words which are altogether different from the ones in the original version). See how easy it is, and it sounds the same if you read it fast. "Make Out?' I Don't Know What It Is This week the inquiring reporter asked: "What is your definition of 'make-out'?" Garth M. Hansen "Make-out? sj " "Wi Well, I suppose f'.;. Finally, the station master's curiosity overcame him. "Why do you watch those trains every day?" he asked. "Well drawled the idiot, "I just want to be here when it happens. Someday one of those . things is going to miss that little hole." THE FISH HOUSE SERVING HOT STUDENT LUNCH DAILY 11 A. M. TO 2 P. M. Sharmea School started off with a bang for Sharmea as rushes, members, and balloons met at "The Pink Lady Night Club", in the Kopper Cottage. There were a few anxious moments while members waited for night shirts to come off Smith's assembly line, which closed down production at 12 midnight, just in time. September 15 the Pink Ladies welcomed Claire, Audri, Virginia and Helen back from Yellowstone where they had been playing "savage" for the summer. With the new campus and many planned activities, we wish good luck to Freshies we know you'll enjoy your year at Weber. Phoenix Phoenix has just started! Our first rush in Brigham Canyon was a success (except for a few rushes). That cotton-pickin' John El-zey kept us all laughing. Second rush is scheduled for November 10. It promises to have its traditional hair raising good time again this year. Wednesday, September 29, we had our first party of the school year with La Dianaeda. We played games under the direction of Mark Wood and Cordell (Ace) Nelson. LD's food kept us in good shape as usual. Alpha Rho Omega Listen! Do you detect an ominous roar in the distance? Do my ears deceive me, or is it growing louder? Look! There at the end of the hall, the doors are bursting open! Wow where did all those students come from? Ouch! They are walking all over me, ruining my wax job, and scratching my finish! Must I endure this for three quarters? Oh, well, I guess we all can't be lucky. (Opening day from the viewpoint of the main floor in Building I). Yes Weber College has opened its doors for another school year. And, with the beginning of school, Alpha Rho Omega men's social club, begins to function full time. Throughout the summer, these pleasure-loving chaps have been holding weekly get-togethers, and bi-monthly parties. On September 6, the Blue Knights held their first Rush Party at Crystal Springs Resort. We are pleased to say, that it was a howling success, with more than seventy freshmen rushees attending. The Alpha Rhovians are planning into the future for their second Rush Party to be held on November 2. More will be said later. All members of Alpha Rho Omega are invited to an exchange party with the "Pink Ladies" of Sharmea, to be held on Tuesday, October 5. There is a great deal of fun in store for all! Many other activities are being planned for the forthcoming year, as Alpha Rho Omega begins to steam-roll. EMORY'S Country Club Drug Store 3924 Washington Blvd. We Write American Express Money Orders La Dianaeda The USLD has set sail on the Weber sea once again with Captain Nancy Fracier at the helm, assisted by first mate Sherrill Pierson, second mate Shirley Snow, third mate Una Jean West, and scribe Betty Peterson. The L. D. crew had a fun-filled summer of parties which started with a crazy picnic with Alpha Rho after an All Faces West practice, and a swimming party with Phoenix at Dex Farr's summer home. The summer club meetings were spent preparing for our first rush party, which was held at the Naval Reserve. The sleepless night was highlighted by a program, with Barbara Roberts stealing the show as the mad violinist, and Kay Giles being chosen as "Miss Shipwreck". La Dianaeda wishes the Freshman class and their new officers lots of success in their first year at Weber College. Chanodo Hi, there, kids! The Merry Maids of Chanodo want to welcome all the new Freshmen and hope they have a terrific school year. As we all walk down the halls we see so many new happy faces and yet we kind of miss our last year's Sophomores. During the summer we really lived it up. We started out with a party with Phoenix at Dex Farr's summer home, and then two bang-up parties with Alpha Rho. Rush Party The main feature of the summer was our rush party which was held in Cottonwood on September 9. The theme was Robin Hood at Sherwood Forest, and for weeks before we were all running around like crazy preparing for this event. It was worth it, though. Our next rush will be held on October 20, when we will have an entirely different theme. See you in the next Signpost. Otyokwa The Squaws of Otyokwa say "how" to all you Weberites. It's great to see so many old faces back again, as well as all the newcomers. We hope you all have a heap happy year on the Weber College new happy hunting grounds! Otyokwa's Indian Maidens are planning many big pow-wows this year. We'll have our "tremen-geous" Sweetheart Ball, Sadie Hawkins Day, along with our assembly, teas, banquets, and many other activities. The Animal Boyd Anderson 12.50 For your Eloamin' Holiday!
