Show i'age 4 Cats Rout Albion 75-59, Tucker Hits For 2! Weber college moved a step closer to the 1950 Intermountain Collegiate conference title with a 75-59 rout over the Southern Idaho College of Education. With Darrel Tucker cutting the strings to ribbons with 25 decimals, the Wildcat crew moved to a 35-31 half-time advantage and moved to a twenty point advantage before reserves took over for the fina' quarter. The Wildcats displayed a fast breaking attack that showed grea! teamwork. At times, the Albion cagers apeared almost confused before the ' sharp-shooting of the Weber team. Tucker was by far the outstanding player on the floor. Beside: dunking 25 points, he played a whale of a floor game. Sewell hi', the hoop for 15 markers followed by Stone with 10. Ray Wallace, Albion forward, carried the scoring load for visitors. He dunked in seven field goals and three for three charity tosses for 17 decimals. Evans was good for 9 tallies and Aciturri, center, counted seven. It has height, speed, scoring power, teamwork, everything that makes a winning team. Coach Swenson's charges have defeated Southern Idaho four times, Ricks and Boise twice, to lead the league without a defeat. They will be one of the favorites to cope the Intermountain Junior college tournament to be held in the Weber college gymnasium March 1, 2, and 3. Let's take a quick rundown of the boys who are on the roster for 1950. Keith Sewell, forward, height 5-foot 10-inches, weight 150; played at Ogden high school. He is currently one of the top scorers in the loop. SIGNPOST K.J. H )) iyt irf Jerry Downs, center, height 6-foot 4-inches, weight 206. Played at Ogden high school. Downs is a good shot with either hand, and is a good backboard man. Dee Wallace, guard, height 5-foot 10-inches, weight 160. Starred for Weber high. Dee is co-captain. He is the ballhawk and playmaker for the wildcats. Darrel Tucker, guard, height 6-foot 2-inches, weight 165. Hails from Weber high. Darrel isco-captain, and is one of the top scorers in the conference. Don Madson, guard height 6-foot, weight 190. Played for Davis High. Hits well from way out and is a good shot with either hand. Glen Ashby, forward, height 6-foot, weight 160. Played at Davis high. Glen is a hustler and a good defensive man. He is a good shot with either hand. Dale Young, forward, height 6-feet, weight 190. Played at Ogden high. Dale is an all-around athlete and played end for Weber's football team. Larry Wood, center, height 6-foot 2-inches, weight 160. Played at Weber high. Larry is a top rebound man and plays a good floor game. Don Dinsdale, forward, height 6-foot 2-inches, weight 165. Played at Weber high. Don drives hard and is a good scorer. Basil Beech, forward, height 6-foot, weight 155. Played at South Summitt. Beech is an excellent shot and can hit well from way out. The league-leading cats were forced to erace a 12-point lead to come on to tie the game at 72 all when Darrell Tucker sank a layup. Score at half-time was 41-34 in favor of the Vikings. Some hot shooting by G. Dalling, league leading scorer, and Laurence made the Weberites hustel to gain the voc-tory.Keith Sewell speared the nets for 22 points to top the Wildcats in the scoring department. Stone, Weber, forward, hit 8 dueces and two for two charity tosses for 18 counLers. Darrell Tucker counted 12 and Don Madson hit for 10 to carry the scoring burden. Glen Dalling hogged scoring honors for the evening with 23 poinis. Laurence had 17 followed by V. Weber, now leading the Intermountain conference look with straight wins, rumped the S. I. C. E. Five 75-39 in the first encounter. Stone and Sewell peppered the nets for 31 points, Rangy Stone hitting 17 points and Sewell 14. Don Dinsdale, reserve forward, although playing only a short time tallied 9 points for the Weber hot-shots.The purple and white five were not pressed at all for the win, as they displayed great teamwork and strength under both backboards.
