Show Friday, March 10, 1950 SIGNPOST Page 3 Sf. Patrick's Day Still Means Wearing Green By Dot Johnson 'Tis the luck of thee Irish. Does everyone have their green picked out to wear to Weber on the 17th? Well put it back again, we're out on that day. It seems the spring weather was getting to much for Weber students who are subject to such conditions as hay fever, spring fever, etc. The weather man seeing the disasters this might lead to turned on the freezing unit again. The subject for debate next week: What is the difference between a shamrock and a clover? The old question last week was proven by Visintainer The chick came before the egg. Anyone who desires to debate this question is urged to get in touch with oh, forget it, as the question is no longer open to debate. Since St. Patrick's day is at hand, I suppose everyone has kissed the blarney stone? (Doesn't sound like a bit of fun.) Do you know about the wearing of the green in protest by the Irish? Sounds slightly interesting, doesn't it? Why, when, and where? Why? because. When? at that time. Where? Scotland, of course! And that should be of vital importance to students taking exams next week. h Place First In Basketball Independents rested at the top of the basketball scramble last week after three consecutive wins. If you 7iave missed, or have never received an appointment for your photo, you may obtain same at the old Central Building auditorium from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m daily, except Fridays and during assemblies. Pictures are taken free of charge. We have been assured by the photographic department that each and every picture will be retouched before going to press. Head of the department, Fred Rabe, states, however, that to speed production it will be necessary for he and his staff to select the proofs for final printing. He promises everyone a really top-notch photo. Only 600 out of approximately 1200 daytime students at Weber have taken time to make appointments. Of this 600 only 400 have actually been snapped. That leaves a problem . . . what has happened to the other 800 prospective models? Nosing around the campus, we talked with several students and with people in the photographic department, and there seemed to be a difference of opinion as to the cause of the trouble. Listed are some of the results of the brief interviews: Joe Kearsley "Insufficient publicity."Vernon Hill "I was given an appointment but later found it impossible to keep. I didn't think that I would be given another chance." Wilbur Wilson "I missed my appointment and didn't think that I could get another one." Photographic department "Many people came at the time of their appointments but were not properly dressed. They never came back to make another appointment. We request that men wear light dress shirts with ties and dark coats, and that women wear white blouses." Whatever the reason for the poor response, follow the above suggestions as to when and where to make appointments, and how to dress, and have yourself represented in this tremendous magazine that will supplant the Acorn for this year. ular vote.
