Leonard J. Diehl, general manager of the Ogden Standard Examiner, was general chairman of the event, which was initiated last year to create and boost civic interest dn Weber college football. $10,000 Ticket Sales All who attended the dinner were urged to aid in reaching and surpassing the annual goal of $10,000 season ticket sales to Weber games. Also backing the ticket drive will be Ogden civic clubs, Chamber of Commerce, and publications. Speaking for the Chamber of Commerce at the annual dinner was Ezra J. Fjeldsted who pledged the aid of that organization to the ticket drive. Alton W. Parker, last year's ace ticket salesman, told of methods of disposing of football game seats. Athletic Reawakening Concluding speaker of the Kick-off Dinner was Weber college president Henry Aldous Dixon who expressed optimism to the coming football season. He stated: "The reawakening in athletics which began last year is being felt not only in the school and the community, but also throughout the northern part of the state. The games last year were as fine exhibitions of football as one sees anywhere, but those scheduled for this year are exceptional. There is no better junior college team in America than Compton, last year's national jaycee champions, and the team from Hawaii is famous for its color and power in all phases of football. A-long with a better schedule, I feel now that we have a better team. A team that will bring the spectators to their feet with repeated spectacular performances." "To bring such teams and to maintain such a high standard in athletics is going to require sup-(port from everyone, and I know that such support will be forthcoming," Dixon said. "Ogden wants only the best, and Ogden is going to get the best," he concluded. Teams Assigned Following the speakers, those Present were segregated into committees and teams which in turn were assigned to specified districts which they will canvas for ticket sales. A similar system used last year resulted in a complete success of the ticket selling campaign. Leading the Wildcat eleven again this year will be chief mentor Milt Mecham who "anticipates one of the most colorful seasons in Weber college history" with a high spirited 70 players in suit for early fall practices.
