Show THE SIGNPOST Page 3 Coed Day This Day! Games, contests, free soda poo and popsicles will be the highlights of Coed Day. At twelve o'clock today all the girls of Weber will meet in Lester park to eat their lunches. At one o'clock the W. A. A. has arranged for each girl to join a team for baseball, hit-pin, volley-ball, and hop-scotch. Then at three o'clock the A. W. S. will serve free pop and popsicles to the girls. The teams will be dismissed and the girls will participate individually in games. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. The girls in charge of Coed Day are: Nadine Madson, general chairman; Farrell Ensign, refreshments; Arlene Mitchell, advertising and W. A. A., games. Every girl in the student body is invited to put on her play clothes and to come and take part in Coed Day. Frenisti To Hold Ceremony In South Fork Canyon Tonight Last week Frenisti club initiated five pledges who will be officially accepted into the club thi sevening in a formal initiation in the cool surroundings of South Fork canyon after the annual Men's Outing at the summer home of Darrell Maddock. The five prospective members are: Bill Chase, Bob B. Clark, Wayne Craven, Darrell Mad-dock, and Clyde Wade. Members who are planning to attend, are Chester Gilgen, Raul-ston Zundell, Jacob Weese, Ralph Morton Fuller, Charles Letz. Mr. Ira Markham, club sponsor, introduced his own lyrics to a new school song, followed by community singing and games (and the celebrating of Glen's birthday).Members and their partners included : Seamon Mills, Thelma Erick-son, Sherman Hodson, Irene Coombs, Vernon Beeler, Gladys Johns, Ben Fowler, Beryl Dickens, Grant Reese, Belva Heslop, Curtis Johnson, Edna Lund, Dar-vil Wilcox, Jean Johnson, Glen Clarke, Farrell Ensign, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Markham. Special guests were Vern Thorpe, Bessie Brown, David Clarke, Ruela McLean. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clarke acted as host and hostess. Phoenix Announces Six Additional Members On the evening of April 19 at the home of Fred Foulger, six Phoenix pledges took the oath of membership. A buffet supper followed the serious initi-tion. Mr. Orlo Childs, geology professor and club sponsor will accompany the party and act as chaparone, guide and interpreter. Junior Cook, Bob Peterson, Norma Bowen, and Larkin Patterson were frivolously initiated by Excelsior last Friday night at Uintah. Approximately fifteen members were present. Canyon Party Bob Peterson's camp in South Fork canyon was the scene of Excelsior's rustic canyon party last Saturday evening. The party was given by the four pledges, Junior Cook, Bob Peterson, Norma Bowen, Larkin Patterson, and also Hugh Garner, a new member. Typical picnic food was served along with the weinie roast. Mr. and Mrs. Dix Jones were special guests. Approximately sixty guests were present. The following entertaining program was presented: Club songs, by the girls; tap dance, Oertel Hadley; vocal solo, Rose Bur-chell; reading, Lorene Taylor, and a speech by Helena Daniel-son, sponsor. Table decorations were carried out in a peach and blue theme. Committee members were Kathleen Benson, chairman, Leah Geddes, and Roberta Wade. Helen Fletcher was in charge of the invitations. Initiation For Pledges Iota Tau Kappa Pleadges will be both frivolously and seriously initiated into the organization next Wednesday evening in the women's lounge. Mrs. Guy Hurst Elected President of The Faculty Women j Monday afternoon at a beauti fully appointed tea in the women's lounge, Mrs. Guy Hurst was elected president of the faculty women's organization for the school year 1939-40. Miss Ruth Peterson was chosen for vice-president, Mrs. Reed K. Swen-son, secretary, and Mrs. Cluster Nilsson, treasurer. The lounge was decorated with fresh spring flowers, and the centerpiece was an array of sweetpeas. Mr. Farrell Collett, art instructor at Ogden high school, entertained the party with an illustrated lecture and display of his commercial art. Rose Burchell completed the program with two vocal selections. Hostesses of the tea were: Mrs. Leland H. Monson, chairman. Miss Eva Browning, Miss Beulah Romans, Mrs. Wallace Baddley, and Miss Leone Grandy. A. W. S. Spring Formal On Phyllis Cardon, president of the Associated Women Students, announces that plans are being made for the annual Recognition banquet and formal dance on Friday, May 26. Hotel Ben Lomond will be the scene of the last girl's dance of the school year. KNIGHT ORCHESTRA WEDNESDAY & SATURDAY Vikings To Help Make May 19 Week-End Gay After a dash in the cool pool at Como Springs Friday, May 19, at the Water Carnival, the Vikings will keep the whirl of excitement going by sponsoring a student body hike to Mt. Ogden on Saturday. The entire Weber student body have been invited by the Vikings to originate the annual affair. Viking members will make an exploration hike tomorrow to make final preparations and to leave a metal box atop Mt. Ogden for all hikers to leave their names in when reaching the top. Next year the names of the persons accomplishing the fete of scaling the mountain will be published. Six Otyokwa Pledges Become Members Lorraine Baird. Merle Sackett, Clara Miller, Ruth Tolhurst, Bette McCune, and Kay Blaes became Squaws of Otyokwa Thursday evening April 27 in the women's lounge. Following the serious initiation and ceremony an Indian feast was served on a huge white floor covering (bearing native insignias) in real Indian fashion. Unique surprise of the evening were the placecards which revealed not only the names of the members but also their future names. As gifts the new members were given minature Indian toteum poles.
